~Review ~
Firstly let me thank Inkslinger PR and Lisa Voisin for providing an ARC of the Angel Killer, the second book in The Watcher Saga, in return for an honest review.

***Spoiler Alert***

Okay… so I am just gonna say it. I am so glad I found out about this series. this is the second novel in The Watcher Saga and it starts off with a bang as well. Mia, poor poor Mia is a bit freaked when her necklace -the one she received from Fatima- starts to vibrate. The water in the restaurant where she is with Heather and Jesse turn on by themselves, the floor under she shakes and the eery feeling she gets covers her skin. As she runs out the bathroom Heather stops her and takes her being upset as only a friend can -since she can't hear or see what Mia can- that she is upset for being stood up by Michael for their double date. Mia knows if he isn't there for his date with her, there is a reason. the next day after school Heather takes Mia out to the shops in town. Mia then notices her necklace vibrates again. What is making it do that? Before she can freak herself out too much, Michael shows up. Apparently there is a lot of ugly coming out of the woodwork and the Angels are busy kicking ass.

The next day while at school Mia and Farouk are sitting at the lunch table when a girl screams. When Mia looks up she sees Jesse (Heather’s boyfriend) stumbling up the walk to the school, covered in blood. His leg is gashed open. Both Farouk and Mia rush to his side and put a tourniquet -using Farouk’s belt- on the wound until the EMT’s can get there. Jesse tells them that Dean (Fiona’s boyfriend) is hurt by the creek behind the school. They take off out to find him, along with the gym coach. When they find him he is bleeding, unconscious and that's when she sees them. the black shadows of hell-hounds. Trying to not freak out is one thing but as soon as the EMT’s have Dean and are gone, Farouk sees the the Hell-hound, thinking its just a dog. The hell-hounds had attacked Jesse and Dean. As the mists move closer, Mia and Farouk start walking backwards, slowly. An Angel pops up out of no where; one Mia has never seen before. The older man makes a noise to shush her and she does. He is able to blast the mist and face off with the remaining fully formed Hell-hound while Mia and Farouk get back inside the school where they will be safe. (Talk about a lose lose situation that could have been...)

As the girls (Mia and Fiona) go to visit Dean in the hospital Michael shows up. Just in time to slay a demon that has latched onto Mia.. she doesn't notice until this happened that her necklace is missing. When Michael goes in with her to sea Dean its then that Mia notices all of the lesser demons. Seems the hospital is a good hunting ground. (makes a face) (Go figure. Damn Demons.) The next few days Michael is gone, working of course. But when he returns something is wrong. Mia sees it. He’’s tired -really needs a day off, hell even God took a day off- but with all of the breeches there is no way to do so. After English Michael and Mia decide to leave school. Well he is and wants her to come, who is she to say no. But it isn’t until she helps him to the car that she realizes that he is bleeding. Badly. When she gets him home she realizes that the wound he had gotten days ago has gaped back open, like a fresh cut. But how is that possible when Angels can self heal?

As Mia is trying to settle Michael down and find out how to help the Angel she saw in the woods shows up. greeting Michael and ignoring her. (LOL) Turiel -as Michael called him- was sent to watch over Mia; he is now his ward. Not sure Micheal liked that but as a Prophet -as Turiel calls Mia- its his duty to keep her safe. Seems only Prophets can see and feel the things Mia does, mainly Angels. Turiel tells Michael -by the way his wound smells- that he has been poisoned by “The Angel Killer.” An Angel sword wielded of dead Angel’s souls. (ICK!!) Any normal Angel would have been dead by now. The more the Angel tries to heal him or herself the faster the poison spreads. With Michael being part human the progress of the poison is moving slower. Turiel -as a healer- can try to help him by sealing up the wound with stitches but the only way to possibly save him is for Mia -as a prophet- to give Michael a blood transfusion. Michael says no, Mia says yes and as he is almost out of options it’s what they are going to try. As they get set up Turiel tells Mia she will simply transfuse the blood and say an incantation. That is her only job. Though they all know she would do anything to save Michael.

As the hours passed after the transfusion Mia started to notice things within her were changing. It wasn't until she woke up the next morning that it hit home. She had a head full of voices, lights where so much brighter, and she can hear so much better. She initially freaks out as the voices in her head get much louder. What’s happening? Arielle comes to her to explain that as a side effect of the blood ritual she did for Michael has given her his soul to keep. Michael is turning more and more human so his soul and his angelic powers had to go to a safe place… that means inside her. Talk about a heavenly how do you do… (laughs) Arielle agrees to teach Mia how to use some of Michael’s powers -while she has them- to not only protect herself but those around her. Seeing minions everywhere freaks her out but this will help her.  While Mia has his power she is a target -more so than usual- so when Michael and Mia go out one night, for dinner she is attacked in the hall of the restaurant by a soldier demon. Thankfully Michael was there, even if it took effort they were able to kill the demons that attacked.

One day while Michael is teaching Mia to fight in his backyard a vision of his past assaults her mind. She sees one of his past memories and it kinda flips her out. Days pass and the visions get stronger. She is so torn. How could he have done these things? Did she really love him and forgive him for them. They happened thousands of years ago.. this wasn't her Michael. When he finally confronts her about the way she is acting it all comes out. A part of Mia is awakened as it was with Damiel and she forgives him. When they touch Michael’s powers return to him. But Mia is not left alone. She is still connected to the Angel network, its just not as strong. And she still has a little halo because of it. This means she can still protect herself -if need be- until help arrives. Which takes what a blink of an eye? Maybe two..

Back at school and pretending to be ‘normal’ Michael and Mia go on about their day as if nothing is happening. Mia runs into Farouk. He looks awful. Run down even. She asks about Fatima, since she hasn't seen her around. Fatima is sick. Deadly sick. Her parents have called in a Muslim priest.. they seem to think she is possessed by a Jhinn. When Mia finds out just how bad it is, she goes to Michael. They decide to go there after school and see her. This will Mia’s time to shine and get rid of the Jhinn. But when the time arrives its not as easy as it seems. This Jhinn is a trickster. Making you see what's not really there. With a lot of effort Michael and Mia are able to kill it and save Fatima. Arielle sets the protecting symbols around the house and both Fatima and Farouk will be safe while there now.

While battling the Jhinn Michael was injured, again, making him weaker. Come to find out the blood ritual she did for him was only temporary. He will still die, just a lot slower if they don’t find the weapon that cut him, get its name and destroy it.

A double date for Michael, Mia, Heather and Jesse turned into a double mission. Yes it was a date but Mia and Michael were there to do recon. Seems the demons they are looking for -the soldier demons- have a large presence in this area. But.. as usual anything they plan gets flipped upside down. They are attacked and all hell breaks lose. Literally. A face from the past comes to confront Michael. Raguel. Seems he was set free when Mia freed Damiel’s soul. And he is back with a deadly vengeance. While Michael is fending off hell hounds Mia, Heather and Jesse get out of the club. The fire the demons started made everyone panic and as the humans try to get out the demons -that they don't know are there- attack them.

When a flash of blue catches Mia’s eyes from across the street she takes off. She finds Arielle on the ground. A large wound in her side, blood seeping everywhere and no other angels around. Where in the hell are they? Finally, Mia is able to get through to Turiel. He carries Arielle off into a door of gold light and Mia sets out to find Michael when Heather comes to her to say he was hurt. Seems his wound came pen again but he had to have it stitched up.

The next morning Mia goes to a wrestling match at school to support her friend Dean. Plus, she really needs to get her mind off of everything going wrong on their date night. Angels being hurt, demons and minions everywhere. It really was too much. While in the bathroom she run into Fatima. Fatima remembers everything that happened to her while Michael and Mia worked to free her of the Jhinn. Seems the threat was put into place. It wasn’t just a random act. The man who put the Jhinn into Fatima was the one that made Mia’s necklace vibrate that night when they left the shop her family owns. It was a way to stop her from telling Mia what her visions had shown for her and Michael. They were in danger, but they already knew that by now. When Mia goes back to the gym to watch the match a vision hits her. She panics and gets out of there.

Mia is taken -via angel- to a very sacred place to talk. The angels listen to what she has to say about Raguel. They know the swords name and now thanks to the vision they know where the sword is. Turiel -after being granted permission to see Mia’s vision- sets off to retrieve it so it can be destroyed, saving Arielle and Michael’s lives. He of course runs into a roadblock. The place the swords held is guarded by a ward. No angel can cross the threshold… now it is up to Mia… to get in and see if she can get to it. Seems this sword not only is an Angel killer it brings out the worst in you. Your sins I guess. So the theft of this sword backfires and things go from “we got it” to “run for your life”. Literally. They barely escape but as they search for Turiel and the sword after Mia does some fancy prophet tracker mojo Raguel kidnaps her. Talk about a kicker. Poor kid hasn't got a chance against him.

His kidnapping Mia brings the Angels to him. Raguel wants Michael but he wants Damiel back more. With a twist of emotions Michael agrees to get the sword and Damiel for him. He'd do anything for Mia. As before he wanted to sacrifice himself for her. No matter what happened she didn't want that. It turns into a tug of war that had my feels all over the place.

This book -as with the first one- was a constant page turner. So much happens at one time. So many voices, emotions and demons. Lets not forget them. I loved it and I really hope the next book is out soon. And yes I know this one -just- came out but I am not a patient girl. Never can claim that. I know better. (grins) This is most definitely one that is added to my MUST BUY list. The second I get the alert I will be all over it like a fat kid on cake. (I can say that as a fat kid who likes cake..I take no offense to it. LOL)
