An epic tale of revenge and love in a new romantic trilogy from the New York Times best-selling author of The Beauty Series.

Instead, he opts to watch over his beloved from afar. And she has no idea. But Sin's sacrifice is short-lived. His bonny lass is a hunted traitor. He fears Abram's assassins are closing in, leaving him with one solution for saving Bleu--make her his wife. Marriage seems an easy fix for their dilemma but wedded bliss is brief when the couple finds trouble lying in wait beyond the realm of the brotherhood. Will the original revenge seeker find herself the object of collateral damage?
First off, thanks to Inkslinger PR and Georgia Cates for allowing us an ARC of The Next Sin to read in exchange for an honest review. Secondly, I am sooooooooooo glad to have gotten this. I was dying to know what happened next! Ha.
*Warning minor spoiler alert*
It’s been three long, tiresome months since Bleu left Scotland and man. Her heart aches and she has to suffer alone. Sinclair is on her mind even if she tries to ignore it. She and her sister Ellison have been taking care of their father -who is dying of cancer- since she returned. Playing with the ideas in her head as she works as a Private investigator she just goes through the days as she has to. One night her sister convinces her to go out with her and her friends. Coyote ugly.. of all places in Memphis to go.. a place that is so not either Bleu or Ellie’s type but hey, when in Rome. After a few drinks a friend from childhood -Cody- runs into them. And after more drinks and talking she agrees -why she doesn’t know- to help out his band since their fiddler is out sick by playing a song with them. The Devil went down to Georgia of course. A Coyote Ugly regular.
Afterwards the bar is getting to them all apparently because Ellison and her friends decide to go to another bar. Even though they are all shit faces.. even the designated driver they are having a good time. Bleu having enough leaves to head home. Cody spots her on the sidewalk and offers her a ride home. When she gets home she goes on about her nightly routine. When she comes into her bedroom from the bath and finds Sin sitting on her bed she tries to get to a gun, but of course he has already taken it. Sin grabs her to keep her from running out and it turns into a fight. (LOL) But he gets her to calm down and actually listen to him. He isn’t there to hurt her but to keep her safe. He wants to keep her safe. The only way to keep her safe.. he can do that if he marries her. He leaves her to think it over.. even though she doesn’t want him to go. Hours later she is still thinking of him. Her mind racing with so much nothing is sinking in. Again, he comes in to talk with her and leaves. He is giving her three days to make her decision.
After the three days passed she sneaks out of her house -so her sister didn’t see him- and he takes her to the house he is renting. Before they can talk about her decision, Sin gets on his knees and proposes as a man should. And.. she said yes. Like we didn’t see that coming. Of course there are things to worry over but for right now they can discuss them later. Knowing that she would want her family there but she couldn’t because she was scared to tell her dad about them. He would be disappointed. But Sinclair being the upstanding man he is -even if he is a ‘bad’ fella- sneaks himself into the hospice center to meet Mr. Macallister. Henry of course knew who he was. As the men talk they get a lot of things off their chests. And It would seem that she had called Bleu while she was in the hall because not too long after the men chatted she busted in like a crazy lady.
When they got back to her house she was seething mad. Can ya blame her? No. They were given her fathers’ blessing though and that was what Sin wanted. He didn’t want to go behind his back and marry his daughter. But in the end, she understood; and unbeknownst to him he was right. Ya know a girl can never utter those words. Goes to a mans head. So, as things worked out Sin and Bleu were married in front of her father and her sister in her father’s room. It was a big day for them all. Unfortunately Bleu’s father only made it a couple of weeks after her wedding before he passed on. After the funeral was done and things settled down Bleu and Sin went back to Scotland, leaving Ellison behind. She would never be able to come to The Fellowships territory.
Now that they are back and settling into the way The Fellowship works they are being interrupted all the time. Days apart while Sin works is one thing but now the middle of the night stop ins and phone calls are more than before. Its the life of a leader. In between all of this… Blue and Sin fly to England to see a fertility doctor and find out the plan they had of waiting a year or so to have kids may not work. With Bleu’s body doing as it does time's running short. They have a choice to make, one that can not be taken lightly. Do they proceed in letting the Doctors do IVF or do they take eggs, freeze them and hope in a year her body is still working? It was a hard choice but one that they agreed upon after taking time to think it over.
They would try IVF now and see what happened. After weeks of shots, crazy schedules and a few headaches it’s time to head back to London to do the last procedure. The Docs will implant the eggs in her and see if they take. One or both? Its a toss up. Could be none. Talk about a nerve wrecking mess. Weeks pass and it’s D day.. well baby day. As Sin and Dleu wait at the Doctor’s office for the results of a blood test they all but worry themselves to death.. until they get the test results. Then they have a whole new reason to worry. Its at dinner that night that Abrah invites himself to join that they tell everyone the news. And of course Abram being the asshole he is has to ruin it. That night Sin makes a choice, one that he and Bleu were hoping he had a few years to make but its time. He will step into his role as second in command pushing Abrah to the curb where he belongs.
Abram.. oh he is not a happy boy and he makes a vow that Bleu will never be anything of a leader to his daughters and storms away. Something tells me he holds a grudge… again, time passes and the people of The Fellowship move along with what they are tasked to do as Bleu and Sin prepare to go to have their first ultrasound. To make sure the baby is progressing normally and all of that. The fun stuff you get to know when you first get pregnant. When they get back home they decide ot have Sin’s family over to dinner at their home this time. Not a restaurant. This way they won’t be bothered. Sin heads back to the office and Bleu is to go to the market and get dinner started. Her choice by the way. Well she falls asleep and when she wakes up its getting late in the afternoon. She needs to go to the market.
But something happens she isn’t expecting. When she opens her front door there are 3 men standing there… they are from The Order.. she tries to get away but doesn’t. She is made to leave a note for Sin.. one that will make him drop to his knees. They are going to use her as an example.. and a way to break him in retribution for his earlier actions months ago.
I have to say bravo to Mrs. Cates. This book is better than the first -if that is possible- in the way of the plot thickening. I got mad along with Bleu, cried with her and in the end my heart was breaking and I had that growing energy of anger as I read the last few chapters. The characters and the story itself are awesome and its very well written and just oh so delish!! The normalcy of their lives is easy to associate with and I reallllly can't wait for “One Last Sin”!!! (Makes grabby hands)
