It's never a good day when an ancient demon shows up on your toilet bowl. For Lizzie Brown, that's just the beginning. Soon her hyperactive terrier starts talking, and her long-lost biker witch Grandma is hurling Smuckers jars filled with magic. Just when she thinks she's seen it all, Lizzie learns she's a demon slayer-and all hell is after her.
Of course, that's not the only thing after her. Dimitri Kallinikos, a devastatingly handsome shape-shifting griffin needs Lizzie to slay a demon of his own. But how do you talk a girl you've never met into going straight to the underworld? Lie. And if that doesn't work, how dangerous could a little seduction be...?
(Laughs so hard) OMG! I'm so hooked and I'm just a few pages in. I have this in audio as well and let me tell you the audio version is brought to life by one of my favorite narrators, Tavia Gilbert. With her voices making the book come to life I'm sold!
***small spoiler alert***
How would you like to have a Harley riding granny, find out you have a talking Jack Russell terrier and to be told you were a demon slayer all in the space of an hour. Oh yeah and also find out demons are real, face one and kill the effing thing? Well that's what Lizzie Brown gets. Not only is she trying (now) to escape demons, nymphs and God only knows what else she is having to keep up with a happy Jack Russell and a hog ridin' granny. When all hell breaks loose, again, they're both fighting to keep alive. Lizzie is able, with the help of a griffin, to get away from the water nymphs. She gets her granny and try to get away only to find their hog is destroyed. No worries though, the sexy, yet oddly mysteries Dimitri shows up to save them. According to her granny, Dimitri is Lizzie's "protector". Lizzie instantly feels drawn to him even if he makes her feel uneasy at the same time. But she is willing to go with him in order to escape the waiting troubles. They make it to the bar (hideout) that her granny's coven is hold up in and that's where Dimitri tells her he must speak to her. That night.
Dimitri does keep his word and talk to her that night but not for the reasons she hoped before. Lizzie was startled awake by him and they jumped out the bedroom window. Not a good way to wake up but it was the only thing Dimitri could do to keep her safe. When they landed a good ways from the bar he begrudgingly tells her that something at the bar isn't right. Lizzie of course thinks of her granny and her dog. If something's there she can take it on, right? Um, yeah no. But she and Dimitri do come to an understanding. She will get his protection, fully but she has to agree to listen to him and do as he says. It's a favor. She'll owe him. What what is the question. When they get back to the bar Dimitri goes in and comes back out a torn up mess. It's time to go. He hops on a bike and they head to a safe house. But what they find when they get there is a whole lot more trouble and. Few headaches. What's left of the coven is there as well as a wolf pack. Yep big, growls weres. Seems in he absence the witches spoke for Lizzie and now she will be working for the mutts. Seems they need some black spirits taken care of.
But like with anything learning to use her gifts is hard. And while Lizzie struggles to get a grip on herself the wolves power struggle grows. Lizzie is able to save the Alpha's son, Dimitri's friend and all in time to get her own ass away before all hell breaks lose. Just when things settle down and Lizzie gives into her needs with Dimitri... He lets her in on something he's been holding back. Needless to say the truth will only piss a demon slayer off. She leaves him stranded and heads for the meeting point with witches. Determination growing stronger in her.
But no matter the anger she holds towards him she also feels a pull towards him. So when it's time to face the demon she takes Dimitri with her. And then the race is on. It's a fight until the end but she doesn't back down. And one dead demon means not only is she safe but her grandma is too. But her and Dimitri may be a different story.
Thing is... loves a crazy thing. Almost as crazy as demon slaying. Poor Lizzie has choices to make now. And quickly or she may lose something she wants and needs before it ever blossoms.
