Georgie did a bad, bad thing….

While doing a favor for a friend professional photographer Georgiana Flynn gives into temptation and has a one night stand with a firefighter named Philip Dexter.  The next day she found out that he lied about his identity.

Two months later, she comes home to her apartment in DC and finds that she has been robbed.  Naturally, she calls the police, but is surprised when the FBI shows up as well.  The FBI seems to think that she was targeted intentionally, by a domestic terrorist obsessed with her work.  An unexploded bomb was found at an event that she was photographing the week before, which led the FBI to suspect that the terrorist was searching for any photographic evidence she may have unknowingly taken.

Unfortunately, during the event her camera malfunctioned and she did not get any shots at all.   All of this is enough to send anyone into a tailspin, but Georgie is stunned when her one night stand is revealed to be one of the FBI agents.  They have been watching her for a while.  Someone had been online ranting about how Georgie should have won a Pulitzer, and how he would get her an “explosive” shot.  Georgie has a creeper who stalks her website, but she never took his obsession with her work seriously.

Brad Lawson, along with Zander, his Labrador Retriever partner, specialize in bomb detection.  He was sent to the shoot that Georgie did for her friend (a beefcake man and dog calendar) to learn more about her, to get close to her.  His superiors have no idea just how close he got to Georgie that weekend.  The chemistry between them was instant and undeniable for Georgie, and for Brad meeting her only confirmed the growing attraction he felt while studying her profile.  Fire, meet gasoline, if you please.  He found no reason to suspect that she had any knowledge of or was in league with the person making the threatening remarks, and figured he would never see her again.

The FBI drags her in for questioning, acting suspicious that she could not produce the corrupted chip from the malfunctioning camera - the camera which has now been stolen.  Georgie is about two seconds from getting screaming mad at their accusations. She agrees to help them draw the bomber out (if he is indeed her number one fan) to clear her name.  Brad manages to convince his boss to assign him to Georgie, knowing that he alone would put her safety above the case.  Together they fight their continuing attraction while trying to draw out a criminal of the most dangerous kind-- one who has nothing to lose.

I am finally getting caught up on some of the books on my (towering, never ending) TBR list.  This one was at the top, and I’m glad it was, I really enjoyed it.  I loved both Georgie and Brad (and Zander, don’t forget the puppy). I liked the way Georgie and Brad sparked off of each other.  I also enjoyed the little details of Georgie’s creativity, such as only taking pictures of legs, or of yellow things.  I may have to try that in my own photography.  Also Brad working with Zander was interesting to read.  I wanted to be miffed with him for lying to Georgie in the beginning, but what can I say, he won me over.  I’m looking forward to continuing on to the next in this series, a full length novel named Irresistible Force.
