Matthew “Wolf” Steel hated flying commercial. Luckily his job as a Navy SEAL meant he didn’t have to do it very often. He’d been unlucky enough to be assigned a middle seat on the cramped jet, but fortunately for him, the woman next to him was willing to switch seats with him. Hoping for a relaxing flight, Wolf was pleasantly surprised at the good conversation and sense of humor the woman had as they flew 36,000 feet over the countryside.
When Caroline boarded the plane to Virginia to move across the country for her new job she never expected to be seated next to the hottest guy she’d ever seen. She also never expected he’d be so easy to talk to. She knew he’d never be interested in talking to her if he hadn’t been trapped in the seat next to her, but it was a nice way to spend a long plane ride.
Neither Wolf nor Caroline were prepared for a terrorist hijacking of their plane, but if Caroline thought that would be the last time she’d see, or need, Wolf, she’d be sorely mistaken.
Start the SEAL of Protection Series with Caroline and Wolf's story.
**Protecting Caroline is a stand-alone love story. It’s Book 1 in the SEAL of Protection Series.**
Oh My Stars and Stripes! I am new to Susan Stokers' books but I was luck enough to win a signed copy of one of her latest books of the series.. and I am one of those that HAS to start at the beginning... It was love at first sight with these books. I mean.. come on really. Military men, damsels in distress and a helluva lot of O.o moments. After making it through the audiobook today while at work its safe to say I have a new series to add to my "As soon as I see it I buy it list'. And yes, that is a real thing for me. lol
I will say this, the beginning was a little slow for me but that is nothing too bad. By the third chapter I was engrossed. And I loved it.
Matthew, sexy man that he is and his SEAL team are back from a mission and needing some R&R. Wolf (Matthew), Mozart (Sam) and Abe (Christopher) are going to Virginia to meet up with their old team mate Tex for a few weeks before they have to head to Norfolk to head out to their next mission.
Being a SEAL there are many times in life that you wonder if you will find love. Can you find someone that can understand you, your job and the fact that you can't say much about what you do. And Matthew, along with others was one of those men. He avoided woman that threw themselves at him just to say "Hey, I had a SEAL." but others didn't. His life was on the path of the straight and narrow until he met Caroline.
On the plane to Virginia Caroline and Matthew met. Caroline is a contrast to Matthew. Small, plain girl that she is. A little nerdy, seeing as she is a chemist but a good hearted girl. Something about her drew Matthew to her and her to him. Though neither thought in a million years that the plane they were on was about to be taken over by terrorists. Yes, I said terrorists. Talk about a bad day, right? Thankfully the SEALs on board kick into action and take on the bad guys, thanks to Caroline and her nose. They did what they had to and managed to save lives.
After a few days spent getting to know each other, hanging out and talking for hours Wolf was called out early for his mission. The life of a SEAL is as unpredictable as a skunk at fear mountain. Just stinks all around. Caroline went on with her life. Starting her new job and trying to put Wolf out of her mind. He didn't need her as a distraction. But that changed when someone broke into her home and she was whisked away by the FBI things changed.
Wolfs team was able to find her, became a part of her protection team and then when it all went to hell they were there to save her. She was officially a member of their team, no matter what she thought about it. No SEALs ever left behind. Which means.... yep ass was kicked but to know the deets ya gotta read.. or listen. Its a must.
About the Author:
Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She is quite the romantic and even met the love of her life on "Hotmail classified" before online dating and sites like match.com even existed!
Susan has been reading romance novels since middle school and once crossed out the names of the main characters in a book and changed them to her own and to the name of her crush. She's been writing scenes for years, developing her unique writing style.
Susan loves writing but her true passion is adopting dogs from rescue groups and shelters. Susan and her husband have had a total of nine "rescued" dogs since 2000 including a variety of basset hounds and bloodhounds. She has recently branched out and adopted a basset/terrier mix who acts more like a terrier than a basset (i.e. digging, eating a couch and being hyper). If you love romance and want to help her support adopting great dogs.
