I enjoyed this book. Well the half I read. There will be more on this book at a later time. Once I read the Alpha & Omega series. Since the other stories seem to revolve around them I will finish that half of the book later, since I don’t want to run across spoilers or anything. But if you are a fan of Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega, this is a fantastic book of little tales to accompany them both.
These stories of course are just as awesome as the original series. And the others are also enjoyable. Overall it was a good read/listen to book.
The story of how both Samuel and Bran came to be the shifters that we love is unveiled. the times of mass sorrow and depression that they have both been through is rival to none. Born in a time long ago they have come through diversity, hardship and losing everyone that meant anything to them over and over again. But things change for them when there is a knock at the door. Samuel not expecting trouble goes and Finds trouble on the otherside. His grandmother, Bran’s mother, a nasty witch is on the otherside. She wants Sam. He has magic in him and she wants to use it to her advantage. So she has her ‘wolf’ sidekick attack them both. And then starts the real struggle. They both now have to adapt to being ‘monsters’. We get a look into Bran, Samuel’s and Ariana’s lives. The torments they all have to live with. Ariana’s monster is not unlike the monsters she is around but things make it so she and Sam have to depend on one another until it comes to a clash of monsters.
Fairey Gifts -
This story was very interesting. You get to see what happens when a son is ‘given’ to a master to be trained (or whatever you would like to call it) and his world gets turned upside down, passed over a tunnel and shaken to pieces. But some things keep him in check and he is able to change his life and the life of another.
The struggles of a vampire, especially a new one is one that seems to haunt them. the choices, whether out of their hands or not affect them. One act, one life taken and a lifetime of misery are what you get when you aren't careful. A new vampire attack to feed and kill their intended food source. That was what happened here and years later Elyna returns only to find the place she and Jack once lived was now haunted by its own ghosts. But as it turns out that ghost would be the ends to a long line of suffering for her. One thing that never dies… true love.
Seeing Eye -
Moira’s story is one that made me laugh and shake my head at. When she is approached to ‘go against’ Samhain’s Coven by a werewolf things go from mundane to balls to the wall quickly. A rescue mission, a fight and moira is left to stand her ground again not just any coven, not just any witches. But her family. Her sister, her father and the life from which she came.
Alpha & Omega -
Whoa! Talk about a fast little read. I have been a fan of Charles since he was first introduced to me in The Mercy Thompson Series. He's an assassin. Yes. He is a little.. odd but that makes him what he is.
He is the ONE. The one to fear. The ultimate in weaponry. The fact that he meets his match in Anna with just a chance meeting is awesome. I liked the battle that was going on between him and his wolf. The wolf knew the moment he saw her she was HIS. Charles just had to catch up to the wolf, and get on the train to Annaville. Once they were there together it was a done deal. Charles was able to do his investigation, get the answers he needed and rescue Anna. though thanks to the crazy female the Alpha was married to in the end it was Anna who was protecting Charles. Though he was in no danger at that time from the other members of Leo's pack.
It seems a new destiny has been made for Charles, one that includes Anna. His mate. His love. His Omega.
