Barb's Review... Lethal Consequences

Lethal Consequences (Aegis, #2)
Three months after rescuing Olivia Wolfe from danger, Aegis Security operative Landon Miller still can’t stop thinking about her, even though she’s off-limits in every way possible. Knowing he’s leaving Aegis and returning to the DIA soon, Landon decides it’s time for their flirty online relationship to end. But Olivia can’t stop thinking about Landon, either. On a whim, she takes a leave of absence from her teaching job to surprise him in Barcelona—and arrives to find a sexy redhead in his hotel room.

Things aren’t always what they seem, though. Landon’s would-be one-night stand is really a member of the Red Brotherhood, a terrorist group targeting Landon for information on a lethal bioweapon. And now Olivia is unwittingly ensnared in their deadly plot, too. Forget escaping emotionally unscathed; Olivia just wants to make it home alive. Yet to survive, she’ll have to put her trust in the very man who not only broke her heart, but whose lies now threaten both their lives.

First off, thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me a copy of Lethal Consequences to read in exchange for an honest review.

Secondly, Sweet Lord above.. talk about an action packed, intense book. I also purchased this in audiobook so I could listen while I worked. I got distracted more than once! I was yelling at my phone and my kindle most of the time. Gah. Olivia is a spoiled brat of a woman. Everything that happened she had to question it. Every time she was told to do something, most of which was to keep her arse alive, she questioned it. I wanted to crawl into the book and choke the blonde out of her. Girlfriend needed a swift kick in the arse and to be locked in a closet somewhere. Poor Landon, bless him. The man is made of steel.

So, Olivia, who is in the midst of a full blown crush on Landon is still texting and talking to her. Landon started it. He sent her a message a few weeks after she left the hospital. He needed to make sure she was okay. it had grown into more. And that is what made Olivia take a leave from her job, get on a plane and take her skinny little arse to Barcelona where Landon was finishing up an Op. But what she found when she got there was Landon of course, a very surprised Landon. But he was not alone and things went from hot and happy to pissed and upset in a second. HaHa. Landon had a woman in his room but it wasn't what it looked like. Literally.

The woman in his room was a member of the Red Brotherhood. Not someone you want to eff with. Landon and the woman fight, she escapes and he has to run down Olivia who stormed off like a bat outta hell. But as Landon finds her on the street.. she is kidnapped.. again. And Landon is right there with her. Things take a turn for the worse when Landon is beaten, badly and still has to think of him and Olivia and keeping themselves alive. They escape and now.. the time is passing as they try to find a way out of trouble.

The Red Brotherhood is after someone that only Landon can find. And unfortunately he now has to explain this to Olivia because she doesn't get how bad things are. Playing her own kind of covert spy Olivia takes it upon herself to leave the safe house she and Landon are at while he sleeps and sneaks into town. She finds a phone and calls Eve. Thankfully Eve was already in the air. As soon as the call came in that they were missing Aegis went on the hunt. They make an escape plan and Olivia goes back to Landon. That's when all hell breaks loose. people shooting at them, car chases and huffing it on foot to get to the place that was plan B. when backup arrives things get scary again, quickly.

They make it to a safe house, one Ryder has set up for his Aegis operatives. Another family home.. that he hates. (Must be nice, right?)But again nothing is as it seems. Its there that Landon figures out something is desperately wrong with Olivia. He does something then that he has to. He calls Dani, the girl whose parents Landon had taken out many years before during an Op. That's when things get crazy. More you ask? Of course. You can only imagine.. well you could go and read it to find out more. Its worth the read. Maybe even three reads.
