THERON - Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He's the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld.
From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn't exist in real life--silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.
She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron's duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendant of Hercules, he wasn't strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.
As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Well.. well.. well... if this doesn't make me wish I knew more about Greek Mythology. Ha. There is a lot that happens but in a good way. Its balanced and with anything else Elisabeth put her hands on is fantastic. I love, love, love Casey. And Theron. Talk about frigging yummy. Needless to say book 2 is up on the phone and ready to go.
This is not my first Elisabeth Naughton novel but it is my first time reading the Eternal Guardians. And I've been saying since Emmy read them at id give them a read... Soooooo glad I've started them!
I have to say... I'm intrigued. The story of the Eternal Guardians is like going back and reading a book of Greek Mythology. Zeus, Hercules, Hades... and so many more are about. The mystery of the "half breeds" or Mesos is the first thing to catch your attention. We find Casey working in a strip club... Not the way you think. (Grins) She's a waitress. And lord knows she has to have the patience of a God to deal with stupid drunk men when she's there.
On an average night, like any other she cuts out of work a little early expecting to get home and relax. But her night turns out as anything but normal. She comes across a gruesome scene. A man is being attacked and beaten. She runs off the "men" and takes him home to help him since he refuses to go to a hospital. This is the night Casey meets Theron for the first time. This big, hunky guardian is saved by a human, a Mesos. But what starts out as a simple act of kindness is a true life changers. What Casey doesn't know is that she's now on the hit list for the evil trying to wipe out a legacy. Seems she is special. In more ways than one.
Theron once he finds out who and what Casey really is... has his eyes opened by King. Many emotions run through him at the knowledge that the king knew he had a Mesos as a daughter. That being Casey. And now Casey and Isadora (The King's daughter and Theron's soon to be wife) are in more than one kind of danger. Without the other they are both slowly dying. In order to save Isadora Theron must go back and bring Casey to her. The weakest of the two won't survive but the princess is who is important now. She is the future queen after all. But what no one is expecting is for Theron to fall for Casey. Seems this guardian has met his one true lifemate. His other half who is the complete opposite of himself. Don't you love how fate and destiny do that to you? (Laughs)
“There shall be two in every era, born of god and earth and men. One of strength and one of courage, two separate halves to bring the end. And they shall be known by the markings they bear, united in the twenty-seventh year. Only joined will the strong survive, to dissolve the pact and bring the end to life.”
The Guardians don't lie, they can't but they can talk around the truth. A typical male trait id say. So as they run from Demons, try to find a way to help the thousands of Mesos in the earth realm and stop Isadora and Casey from dying the bond between Casey and Theron grows thicker, tighter. Theron's conceive starts to make itself know. And when Casey finds out what's really going on things shift. Seems Hades will get his wish. So when Isadora goes to Persephone to get her to call Hades off things go south again... But in order to save her sister Isadora puts herself in the hands of Hades. And before anyone else can stop it the "ceremony" commences. Isadora and Casey are joined as one and as one they stand tall, both neon strong enough to survive their bodies and minds submitting to the others gifts.
Now the only thing left to repair is what is there between Casey and Theron... if she can find him. Seems his conscience won out on his self hatred for what he had to do that he's run off.... but Casey goes after her man, her mate, her heart and soul. She won't give him up without a fight.
