~~ Emmy’s Review ~~
Many thanks to Muriel Garcia, who provided me a free copy of this ENTIRE series (like, whoa, right?) in exchange for my honest review.
I have enjoyed every since one of them, and each has been better than the last.
Honestly, I was not disappointed. This whole series was great. I started of with some major Sons of Anarchy nostalgia, and grew to love the Last Hangman MC on their own merit.
Nicole and Jason, the MC’s of this book, are probably the darkest and most complex characters this author has ever written. They’re messy. They’re screwed up. They have bloody pasts and secrets they would rather keep hidden. Nicole is tougher than you would think and Jason is more broken than even he knows. Beautiful characters.
Jason Sanders is the Last Hangman’s resident cop/friend on the force. He was the one who helped them free their wrongfully imprisoned president, and has been helpful to them ever since. When the Hades Kings started making trouble, he passed information to the MC through a source he had on the inside, giving the LH a leg up on the King’s plans. Unfortunately, that also made Sanders, and his wife a target. In the previous book **spoilers, if you haven't’ read it, sorry, can’t do this without this one** Jason’s wife Jenny is brutally and thoughtlessly killed at the hands of Jared, the King’s president. It is after that firefight that this book opens, with Jenny’s funeral. Nicole was held captive along with Jenny, and was right beside her when she was killed. Jason latches on to her, wanting to know exactly how his wife died.
There are multiple mysteries in this book, the first of which is exactly how Nicole and Jason know each other. Within minutes of starting this book it’s obvious that they have not just met, and that they have at the very least been friends for awhile. The chemistry between them is undeniable. Yes, I know, he was married, and just lost his wife. Trust me, it all makes sense when you read it. Jason’s inner voice is constantly berating him, telling him that he is to blame for Jenny’s death, and his past deed merit him nothing more than a long painful death of his own. The author hints at his past for a good while, and when it is finally revealed it’s worth the wait. It’s twisty, and deliciously dark.
Nicole is Gabe’s little sister, who returned home in the previous book. She had been away at college, and has transferred back to New Orleans to finish out her education, with the added benefit of being close to her LH family. Like Ayden and Vivian, Nicole was raised in the MC, and is no fragile flower. She is not afraid of getting her hands dirty to do what needs to be done, and has returned home with secrets of her own. Her character seemed to be more complex than past heroines, and I thoroughly enjoyed being in her head.
Since the spectacular fall of the Hades Kings, the Last Hangman have continued their alliance with two other MCs, the Bastards from Hell and the Fallen Angels. All of the clubs realize they are better working together than apart, and with their combined strength it is unlikely that they will be challenged. But the peace is short lived. Ten of the original Hades Kings survived the culling, and have joined with other out of state chapters to form the Hades Disciples. The Disciples have continued the Kings’ disturbing business of kidnapping women for sex trafficking, and by all accounts are more ruthless and cruel than their predecessors. Jason soon learns that the Disciples are coming to New Orleans with a goal in mind: to destroy the Last Hangman. Before they are even in town another purpose is revealed. They are coming for Jason, and Nicole, specifically. The past can stay secret no longer: Hell is coming.
The author kept me guessing in this book, trying to figure out what the secrets were, and just how they were connected. This story was well put together and told. The dialogue, which I had thought could be a bit cheesy at times in previous books, was greatly improved. I am already anxiously awaiting the next installment in this series, and I can only say a heartfelt thanks to the author for this wonderful experience.

About the Author:
Muriel Garcia was born and raised in Belgium. She started writing a little over a year ago and never thought she would ever publish; reading and writing weren’t her favorite things to do in high school.
After one of her friends gave her a challenge – the next time they would attend a book signing, she would be a signing author (it did happen!) – she started to take writing a lot more seriously and never looked back. She’s enjoyed every second of it and the friends she’s made along the way.
She loves music, tattoos—especially on hot men, traveling, and cooking. She has always had an overly imaginative and creative mind but never thought of putting words to paper. Now she couldn’t imagine not writing stories that are near and dear to her heart.
