Book Review... Justice for Mackenzie

Justice for Mackenzie (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes #1)
Daxton Chambers loved being a part of the oldest and most distinguished law enforcement agency in the state of Texas…the Texas Rangers. But whoever was burying women alive in his city of San Antonio was always two steps ahead of him…and he hated it.

Mackenzie Morgan lived what she considered a normal life. She worked at a non-profit agency, hung out with her best friend, had an annoying, but loving, family, was clumsy, had a tendency to ramble when she was nervous…and was still searching for the man to spend the rest of her life with.

Meeting Mack, and finding out just how perfect she was for him, wasn’t a part of Dax’s plan…but he’d be damned if he was going to complain about it. Unfortunately, Dax’s job wasn’t always safe…Both Mack and Dax would find that out the hard way.

**Justice for Mackenzie is the 1st book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings. **

First, thank you to Susan for sending me a copy of Justice for Mackenzie in exchange for an honest review.

Hoooooooly smokin' Rangers! Everything's bigger in Texas. You've heard that before, right? Well it's true. As a Texan I can vouch for that. And nothing is bigger than Mackenzie's bubbly personality. The gal is ten shades of funny and is one of those people that you instantly fall in love with for many reasons. She's the best friend we all want. HaHa.

When Daxton meets Mackenzie at a fundraiser he had no idea she'd be the one that would rock his world in a few ways and he didn't even know her name at the time. A simple traffic stop leads him back to her. A phone call and a date turn into something new. Something they both need. A friendship, a love and a relationship that's more than either of them thought they'd ever have.

Thanks to a case that Daxton is working on Mackenzie gets the attention of a man who is not only crazy... I mean like a tick on a hound dog's ass crazy... but she is the one that the crazy serial killer can use to break Daxton. Even with her being under guard, the crazy an manages to get to her. The clocks ticking and it’s up to Daxton and his team to find her. Mackenzie doesn't have time for them to make mistakes or to doddle. TJ, Cruise and the rest of the team try to piece together what they know and how it best suits them to follow the tips they have coming in. Thankfully the cray man makes a mistake. His fingerprints are found and then it's game on.

With minutes to spare the Calvary makes it to where the crazy man is... but there is no Mackenzie. Daxton slowly starts to come apart again. He has to watch her on a computer monitor... thinking it's too late to save the woman whom he's fallen in love with over the last few months. But just as time runs out... A miracle happens. It's a close call. Too dang close.

I have to say I'm a huge fan of Susan Stoker's. Totally and fully. Have been from the moment I stumbled across her books a few months ago. The stories she brings to light are all kinds of crazy good! I can't wait for book 2, Justice for Mickie!

About the Author:
Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She is quite the romantic and even met the love of her life on "Hotmail classified" before online dating and sites like match.com even existed!

Susan has been reading romance novels since middle school and once crossed out the names of the main characters in a book and changed them to her own and to the name of her crush. She's been writing scenes for years, developing her unique writing style.

Susan loves writing but her true passion is adopting dogs from rescue groups and shelters. Susan and her husband have had a total of nine "rescued" dogs since 2000 including a variety of basset hounds and bloodhounds. She has recently branched out and adopted a basset/terrier mix who acts more like a terrier than a basset (i.e. digging, eating a couch and being hyper). If you love romance and want to help her support adopting great dogs.
