Tex gave everything he had to his country and his SEAL teammates. When an IED took away part of his leg, and his career, he devoted himself to his country and friends from behind his computer. He’s always been the man that can find anyone, that uses his computer skills, legal and illegal, to keep people safe and to put the bad guys behind bars.
But behind a computer is a lonely place to be. While he might put on a good front, Tex can’t help but feel he’s missing out when he sees how happy his friends are. But when the woman he’s been talking to online for the last six months suddenly disappears without a word, Tex knows it’s time to step up, and use his skills for himself this time.
**Protecting Melody is the 7th book in the SEAL of Protection Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it’s recommended you read the books in order to get maximum enjoyment out of the series. **
Oh sweet mother of all that is holy.. I Love Tex! talk about a hottie with a body that never quits. (fans self) He is sexy on a whole new level. The strong, confident, take charge alpha male that can give power to the woman of his eye is a real man in my book. He may be a medically retired Navy SEAL but one thing is for sure.. he is the man to make the job is always done. No matter the job or what needs to be done. He is the man, Period.
Holy Hackers! Tex.... Tex.... Tex... I've had mad love for Rex from the moment we met him in "Protecting Caroline".
When we met Tex he was kinda the "odd man out" in the sense that he's not with the others. He's on his own, 2000 miles away on the East Coast but without him and his valuable skills the SEALs would be like a duck in an empty pond. No water to swim in means you have to waddle your arse to the other side while dodging what life throws at you. With Tex on their six they always have an out. They have the help they need. They have hope.
When Tex meets Melody his life starts to change in ways he never saw coming. Which is great but at the same time puts him on edge. When Melody and Tex talk online he can be more free. Letting her in on his life, his struggles, his fears even. That's not something he can do with anyone else. So when Melody logs off and deletes her chat room account... Tex uses his ability and his wit to track her down. Only to find she's running from a stalker.
You can take a man out of the SEALs but you can't take the SEAL out of the Man. That's so true and Tex puts that to shame throughout the story. As he and Melody return to her hometown to see if they can draw her stalker out... Things heat up. Melody and Tex falls over the cliff and together they start to sort out her life, leaving no stone unturned as they try to find her stalker.
As they fight to stay one step ahead of her stalker the ever present bond, the invisible bands that have been drawing them closer and closer get tighter. Tex vows to do whatever he can to keep her safe. If that means him losing his life then so be it. When the stalker's threats escalate it isn't long before they are all face to face in a showdown of epic proportions.
Tex and Melody will have to stick together, remember what's at stake here and not let the evilness before them win... but really it's not that easy. Life's not going to just roll over and die. It's gonna make them fight... And if they don't fight hard enough.. Someone will be lost.
About the Author:
Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She is quite the romantic and even met the love of her life on "Hotmail classified" before online dating and sites like match.com even existed!
Susan has been reading romance novels since middle school and once crossed out the names of the main characters in a book and changed them to her own and to the name of her crush. She's been writing scenes for years, developing her unique writing style.
Susan loves writing but her true passion is adopting dogs from rescue groups and shelters. Susan and her husband have had a total of nine "rescued" dogs since 2000 including a variety of basset hounds and bloodhounds. She has recently branched out and adopted a basset/terrier mix who acts more like a terrier than a basset (i.e. digging, eating a couch and being hyper). If you love romance and want to help her support adopting great dogs.
