Barb's Review... Tempted

DEMETRIUS—He’s the hulking, brooding warrior his fellow Guardians avoid. Too dark. Too damaged. And given his heritage, he knows it’s best to keep everyone at arm’s length.

Isadora is missing. The words pound through his head like a frantic drumbeat. For her own protection, Demetrius did all he could to avoid the fragile princess, his soul mate. And now she’s gone—kidnapped. To get her back, he’ll have to go to the black place in his soul he’s always shunned.

As daemons ravage the human realm and his loyalty to the Guardians is put to the ultimate test, Demetrius realizes that Isadora is stronger than anyone thought. And finally letting her into his heart may be the only way to save them both.

Well.. just dayum.. I think I am in.. I dunno. Just dayum. I love Demetrius. I have from the moment we met him in Marked. Not gonna lie, after this one he is most definitely my #1 Eternal Guardian. I don’t think anyone (even though I know there are plenty more, will come to his level of awesomeness. (Yes Zander is still my #2 man.. gah love them both)

To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of Isadora. She is.. (to me) a pain in the arse. But I was told I would grow to like her. Eh, Emmy was right. She is still a pain in the arse but my respect for her has grown. She finally found a backbone and for that alone she deserves props.

DEMETRIUS—He’s the hulking, brooding warrior his fellow Guardians avoid. Too dark. Too damaged. And given his heritage, he knows it’s best to keep everyone at arm’s length.

When Isadora disappears under everyone’s noses events are set into motion that cause all kinds of… issues. Funny enough it’s Demetrius that gets the most worked up about this. You know the one Argonaut that despises the princess. Or does he? Deep down, is there more to his anger towards her? The question is one that doesn’t have time to be pressed as they search for the missing princess.

A mission to find her put Demetrius, Orpheus and Griffin going into save her from… a warlock. Kronus. But what happens there is a lot of things. A rescue turns into running for their lives. Orpheus stays back so Demetrius can get the princess and Griffin away. But when they step through the portal.. all hell breaks loose. Things happen that made me blink really hard. Demetrius had taken them to the last place he had been in in the human realm. The place that once housed the Mesos colony.. but all they found was… demons. But that isn’t the worst part. The moment they see Demetrius they think he has brought the princess to him. Why would he do that? Maybe because of his mother.

The next things that Isadora knows is she is waking up in a strange place with Demetrius working hard on.. something. Then she and Demetrius were running for their lives. A chain of events that lead them to be locked into a place of refuge. Trying to ignore the attraction they had for each other. Demetrius trying hard to keep her at arm's length. Because he thinks she deserves better. Isadora is trying to piece together what has happened to them. How they managed to be in this place. And it wasn’t just any place. It’s the island of Pandora. Where all the evil things have been put and it’s literally a fight everyday to try and find a way out. And after days pass, the need to be with her over runs his body. His mind. And just when Demetrius doesn’t think it can get any worse… the unthinkable happens. Isadora is taken from him. When he finds holy ground and can escape to get help… he is taken. The Argonauts having thought he had taken her on purpose.

Thankfully when Isadora is rescued things change. Demetrius changes. Isadora changes… and the way of the Argonauts and the way the council sees Isadora changes. Nothing will be the same again. And that is the least of their worries. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems.
