Savage in the bedroom.
Powerful. Brutal. Mixed Martial Artist, Ryland “The Savage” Cole doesn’t play by the rules. He wants it. He takes it. And he wants Jade.
Professional cuddler Jade has not only been hurt but also deceived by the one she once loved. She’s not going to make a mistake again by giving her heart to a man. Especially since she’s now free.
When a motorcycle club threatens her best friend, she puts her life on the line in order to save him, but in order to do that, she must spend every night in Ryland’s arms.
Firstly I would like to thank Emma Rider and Enticing Journey for giving me the opportunity to read a copy of Want in exchange for an honest review.
This story ticked all the boxes for me with the added bonus of being MMA. I am a sucker for a good fighter. This started off easing you into the story and slowly you got to know each of the characters associated with Jade and Ryland. As the story goes on you know something is coming and Emma leads into beautifully. It has the heart stopping moments and the moments you wish a character was real so that you could kick them in the nuts, because trust me there are a few of them in there.
Jade knew there was something about Ryland that was going to be her undoing. Ry knew that he had to have Jade and whatever cost. Will it be a happy ending for this badass fighter and the girl with a troubled past or will the past be too much and cost them more than love. One-click and you’ll see for yourself.
First off, many thanks to Enticing Journey PR and Emma Rider, who provided a free copy of Want in exchange for an honest review. This is not only my first book by this author, but also the first book I have read in this particular genre, MMA Romance.
Jade has caught the eye of Ryland, a fierce MMA fighter. Her job is unorthodox - she’s a professional cuddler. I had to read that a few times to understand it. She cuddles people, no sex, just touch. Humans need physical contact, and her business is to provide it, with no strings attached. When Ryland shows up at her door she doesn’t think of him as anything more than her (admittedly very attractive) client. When he proposes that she come with him on tour she originally refuses, knowing that he wants more and admitting to herself that she does as well. But circumstances force her to take the job, despite her misgivings.
As she travels with Ryland and his crew she finds unexpected friends, and makes some new enemies. Her past rises up to haunt her, and potentially destroy the fragile new relationship that develops between her and Ryland. Can he save her from her past? Can she save herself?
I liked this story - it had a lot of action. I found Ryland to be a bit monosyllabic for my taste, but once he opened up to Jade and told him about his past I was pleasantly surprised at his backstory. He’s a good example of not judging the book by its cover. Jade’s backstory is a doozy as well - talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I felt bad for the girl more than once. All in all, it was a well put together novel that was a smooth quick read.
I found this to be a good introduction to this genre, and I will look into the other books by this author.
Till next time,
Always your friendly neighborhood cosmic secretary of romance, Emma Rider has been weaving stories since she was about five, writing and acting out plays about princes and princesses for her parents often. She currently resides in the East Coast with her husband and two standard poodles. She loves to read, needs to write, and has a love/hate relationship with cooking—but she can be found doing any of these. If she’s not found doing any of these, don’t worry, she’s probably practicing martial arts, dabbling in graphic design or pestering friends with movie quotes. She loves romance, loves happy endings and especially loves writing them.
