Loving Jules in high school was easy—gentle and natural. But that was eight years ago, before she left town. Before she took off and left my heart shattered.

Now she’s back…with a kid I’ve never met.

A hurricane, that’s what she is—powerful and potentially destructive, yet so thrilling and intense.

If she leaves me wrecked again…I won’t survive.

Excerpt Reveal:

I threw my phone across the truck. I didn’t get to say goodbye. I didn’t even tell her I loved her one last time. No way. There’s no way she’s gone.
I scrambled to find the phone I’d just thrown and pulled up her text, again. She sent it two hours ago. I dialed her number, but it went straight to voicemail. I tried her house, and her mother answered.
“Hi, Miss Davis, is Jules around?” I tried to sound relaxed and calm, although I was anything but.
“No, I’m sorry, sweetie. Her plane left at seven this morning. Didn’t she tell you?” Her voice was soft with sympathy.
I shook my head as the tears started to fall, I couldn’t speak. She was really gone.
“Oh Hunter, I’m so sorry. I told her she needed to call you. Leaving without a goodbye will be something she regrets. I’m sure she’ll get in touch with you soon. I’m here for you anytime you need me. Okay, sweetie?”
I shook my head again, although she couldn’t see me, but the words weren’t coming.
“Hunter, are you still there?”
I cleared my throat and took a deep breath. “Yes, Miss Davis. Thank you.” I hung up without saying goodbye and sat there in my truck, sobbing like a toddler.
I couldn’t believe she was really gone.
My Jules was gone.

Don’t forget book 1, Wrecked By Him

I'm a feisty redheaded Canadian/American who fell in love with romance novels when my friend Phil bought me a Kindle and it hasn't left my side since.

My fave books to read are anything taboo and super sick and twisted, I'm not sure I will ever write anything dark but I would love to give it a shot one day.

I live in South Florida with my high school sweetheart and 3 kids.

I grew up in Burlington, ON, Canada but made the move to South Florida in 2013 and definitely don't miss the snow.

I'm not sure where this writing journey will take me but either way I know it will be a fun new adventure and I'm super excited about it.

 Love finds those that wait.

Heartbroken.
Lost.
Alone.

I thought I had it all, turns out I was wrong.

I had ambitions of being a successful, self sufficient woman. I had a plan, I had the drive. With each step I took forward, I was pulled back three. Trying to work in a male dominated world isn’t as easy as I had hoped.
I was deflated, my spirit broken. That was me until a night full of mystery in The Crescent Room.

I’d been hiding behind masks, trying to be something, someone that I didn’t believe I could be. I opened like a well read book to expose my inner pages. My fears of being alone again became a reality - then faded into the night like a gentle caress from a lover.

The desires of my heart grew to a need that was felt in my bones. I would fight to be this woman, to be on top of the world I would create for myself.

I would be free to be me and love again.

Release Boost... Barb Shuler's Unknown Threats

I’ll fight to save them.

Unknown Threats (A Story of Survival)

By Barb Shuler

Publish Date: June 28, 2019
Cover Designer: TE Black Designs
Photography: JW Photography

My badge wasn’t going to save me and my family. If anything, it would only get us killed.

Four girls on a weekend getaway sounds like fun. Right? In hindsight, yes. It started out that way. But the happiness took a swan dive when a stranger appeared wanting to borrow a phone.

All too quickly I realized I was looking into the eyes of a soulless killer. If I didn’t think fast, his would be the last face I ever saw.

I had to save my family. If it means destroying myself in the process, well, that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

Excerpt:

I opened my door and put the bag on the seat as I took another scorching drink of coffee. When I turned I saw Sara was scowling. I raised a brow and turned slightly to see Bria talking to two younger men, as in younger than we were. I scanned them and turned to see them a little better.
I braced my feet on the ground, apart and ready for action if needed.
“Blue shirt - right ankle.”
“Saw it,” she replied. “Though, I don’t think it’s a gun bulge. It looks off a little. His pants are too big and baggy to be sure.”
“The other one gives me the willies,” I grumbled. “His eyes are all but devouring her like a hungry lion would a gazelle.”
“Agreed,” Sara said, her voice was soft but I heard the hard line in it. I moved to sit my coffee in the cup holder. I stretched again, a decoy so I could get a look around for another vehicle. I saw an older truck off to the side of the building. My nose wrinkled.
“Y’all ready to move out?” Tami drew my attention and I nodded. Sara was still watching Bria grin up at the guys in front of her. “Well-”
“Bria, let’s go!” Sara barked. “Now!”
I gave her a hard look but said nothing. Bria scowled, and I swear if looks could kill, Sara would have dropped to the ground. I laughed internally, but kept my guard up. The hair on the back of my neck was on end. Something just wasn’t right with those fellas. When Bria turned to head back this way the guys looked towards us. They smiled, an evil, make my skin crawl kind of grin.
I got a good look at them, though. They had dark hair, were of a medium build and both had hard eyes. The taller of the two had stars tattooed along the side of his face and across his left eyebrow.
That looked like a gang tat, great.
